These applications are possible by using one of the following types
of superabsorbent technology:

ETi
offers a very broad range of acrylate-based superabsorbents.
Depending on a the intended application, a specific polymer
can be matched to meet requirements such as speed of absorption,
absorbency under pressure, freeswell absorption, retention,
particle size, etc.

These polyacrylate/polyacrylamide copolymers were originally
designed for use in conditions where there is high electrolyte/mineral
content and a need for long term stability including numerous
wet/dry cycles; i.e., the agricultural and horticultural markets.
These copolymers, with the added strength of the acrylamide
monomer, have proven themselves useful and efficient in a
number of applications outside of agricultural uses such as
medical spill control, wire & cable waterblocking, etc.

ETi offers a wide range of chemically funcional composites in our CHEM-POSITES™ product line. These products include structures such as laminates and composites with specific chemical functionality such as superabsorbency or antimicrobial activity or barrier film performance - whatever is needed for your particular application needs. These products are used wherever the specific chemical functionality is desired in a rolled good or sheet form. Some end markets include wire and cable, filtration, medical, specialty packaging, industrial wipes and spill control. The products below are examples of the MANY composites and laminates that we carry.

This relatively new form of absorbent polymer chemistry
offers the absorbency of a granular polymer supplied in solution
form. As the name implies, these materials are true solutions
and can be diluted with water prior to application, if desired.
Virtually any substance can be coated or saturated with these
materials. After curing (drying) at a specific temperature
for a specific time, the result is a coated substrate with
superabsorbent functionality. For example, this chemistry
can be applied directly onto wires & cables, though it
is especially optimized for use on components such as rolled
goods or nonwovens, paper, certain films, etc.
